An upcoming segment of Advancements with Ted Danson will focus on developments in environmentally friendly recycling processes.

The segment will explore current electronic waste (e-waste) statistics, which estimate that the world generates more than 50 million tons of e-waste each year. Audiences will learn about issues with e-waste recycling today and will hear why just 12.5% of the e-waste generated is recycled. The show will also discover the harmful effects caused by improper disposal of e-waste, and how it can negatively impact the environment.

Advancements will explore EPRA/Recycle My Electronics– an industry-led, not-for-profit organization that operates regulated recycling programs across Canada.

Viewers will see how Recycle My Electronics programs uses innovative technology to break down old electronics and recover resources from within electronics, which can then be put back into the manufacturing supply chain in a responsible and sustainable manner.

“EPRA/Recycle My Electronics is committed to the integrity of the recycling process at every stage, from our network of authorized drop-off locations to our approved primary processors. We are proud of our success diverting end of life electronics from Canadian landfill and illegal export for residents, business, and the environment,” said, Cliff Hacking, President & CEO, EPRA/Recycle My Electronics.

Viewers will also see how the process ensures that end-of-life electronics are handled in a safe, secure, and environmentally-sound way.

We look forward to sharing how Recycle My Electronics is helping to keep old electronics out of landfills, preventing them from being illegally exported or handled by irresponsible recyclers,” said Ed Sullivan, senior producer for the Advancements series.
