Ted Danson highlights the latest developments in sustainable tourism in this special edition series.

In its upcoming season, the award-winning producers of Advancements with Ted Danson will feature the latest advances taking place in eco-tourism and sustainable travel today. Advancements will premier 2Q 2018 on a number of networks Nationwide. Dates and show times TBA.

Generating $3.2 billion of spending worldwide every day, tourism creates one-tenth of jobs globally, represents 10 percent of world’s gross domestic product (GDP) and is 30 percent of world trade in services.

According to the United Nations Environment Program, tourism produces five percent of the world’s carbon emissions, and contributes to the depletion of natural resources, the degradation of ecosystems, and the proliferation of the waste found on our shorelines, in our parks, and on our nature trails. But the industry is also crucial for economic stability, development, and the conservation of natural and cultural heritage.

This season, Advancements will take an in-depth look at the industry, and will enlighten viewers on the best ways to keep their environmental footstep light while enjoying and exploring our vast world.

“While many travelers want to travel sustainably, they don’t always know how,” said Jennifer Tierney, senior producer for DMG Productions and the Advancements series. “We look forward to seeking out and educating audiences on the sustainable, eco-friendly options for travelers today.”
