Jupiter, FL—An upcoming segment of Advancements with Ted Danson will focus on improvements in regenerative growing practices.
This segment of Advancements will explore how climate change affects the way farmers operate. Audiences will see how farmers who have adopted regenerative practices are embracing agroecological approaches to build a robust and resilient food system.
With a behind-the-scenes look at 21 Acres Center for Local Food & Sustainable Living (21 Acres), the show will travel to the peri-urban area north of Seattle, in King County, Washington to learn how small-scale farms and local food organizations are poised to feed the community during food shortages.
The show will explore agroecology as a low-tech solution to the failings of big agriculture and a consolidated and commodified food chain. “We welcome the Advancements crew to the 21 Acres campus,” said Liesl McWhorter, Co-Director at 21 Acres. “It will shine a light on Sammamish Valley, where small farms have been producing food for years on the principles of carbon sequestration and healthy soil management for long-term agricultural viability and climate resilience.”
Viewers will learn about neighboring farms, who are part of a community of producers who are tackling climate change head on, are using age-old principles of soil stewardship in a tiny, yet mighty agricultural production district.
“21 Acres values a whole systems approach to food production, small-scale food economies, environmental preservation, and climate resilience,” said Ed Sullivan, senior producer for the Advancements series. “We look forward to sharing how the collective innovates to solve current problems by infusing traditional concepts with new knowledge.”
